Sharia Paradise
As they will very soon in the rest of Iraq, stories are beginning to emerge about the conditions peopled lived under in the Ansar al-Islam controlled areas. Apparently, Mullah Krekar gave the orders when a boy was tortured in the village of Beeyara. Writes Henrik Hovland in Dagbladet, Sanger Nasradin was hung by his legs in the prisons of Ansar al-Islam and tortured with beatings and electric shocks. After four days he admitted to having had sex out of marriage. He was twelve years old. [..] Sanger's brother also recounts the Taliban'ish conditions they were forced to live under, and declares that he'll kill Krekar for what he did to his family if he ever returns to Kurdistan. As always, Mullah Krekar (who's under investigation for various crimes but currently out of prison) blames the PUK. Lawyer Brynjar Meling talked to Mullah Krekar last night. - Krekar believes this must be pure propaganda from the PUK or from people who are afraid of retribution from the PUK. Furthermore, he says that if this was supposed to have happened in a public place, he could rule out that it happened when he were in the area. It is a small community, and the event would soon have been known, says Meling. Pressed on where Krekar was a the time, however, in April 2002, Meling admits that Krekar was in Kurdistan, and that he could have been in Beeyar. It is of course entirely possible that this is propaganda, but it doesn't sound out of character for Ansar al-Islam, and Krekar's whole defense against every accusation ever made against him and his group has been that it's all "PUK propaganda". That's a whole lot of testimonials to dismiss so flippantly.

Don't Europeans see how important it is to put these psychopaths of Islam in their place? Stare their devil eyes down. Do satire on them (admittedly difficult since they are usually beyond satire with their own actions). The Americans just stormed into the middle of Baghdad because, in the words of one of the commanders, to show them that they aren't afraid to take them on anytime anywhere. This is the example for all who must put these Islamist murderous nitwits in their place. Chris Joesphson | 2003-04-07 05:24 | Link "...it's all "PUK propaganda". " Almost the same as the Iraqi minister who gets on Iraqi TV and says the airport has been retaken. It's "always propaganda" is a common theme among some groups. Regards, Markku Nordstrom, New York/Helsinki | 2003-04-07 09:04 | Link Chris: I agree. "It's always propaganda" is what the lefties in Finnish websites are repeating over and over again in regards to positive reports on American gains coming from Iraq. And they were all gloating at the "defeat of the Americans" a few days ago, when the US drive temporarily paused to let supply columns catch up. This is what is prevalent in most of Western Europe. It is a myopic disease, and it is a disease that is not harmful to America (since Americans couldn't care less, except for New Yorkers, San Franciscans, and some Hollywood stars), but - it is harmful to Europe. Europe has become morally twisted, and confused. It has lessened the effect of its opinion in the world (except in the minds of Europeans), since its opinion is so watered down with multicultural relativism, that it is ready to accept any threat to its own existence, in the name of its own ideology. Sensible Americans cannot fathom this approach. It is actually a pity that average Americans - in "middle" America - do not have more exposure to European thinking, because their reaction could really be of help to Europeans: those Americans have a better gut sense of what is right and what is wrong than Euros could ever have. But that's just wishful thinking on my part. Europe will most likely continue on the path of least resistance. Which means more appeasement, - and more America-bashing. If there is one thing I would like to see more of, it's more American unilateralism, and less consideration for the European point-of-view, Tony Blair's friendship notwithstanding. Europe will only slow down America, and cause doubt in life-and-death decisions, when there should be no doubt. If we had listened to Europe, Milosevic would still be in power, Serbia would have achieved its goals of a Greater Serbia, and most Muslims in Bosnia and Kosovo would all be dead and relegated to a minor footnote in the pages of history...
