Creationism and evolution - a scientific approachby Bjørn Stærk founder of the Christian Coalition of Conservative Creationists Consortium Have you been told that evolution and creationism are just two different theories, and nobody knows which of them is true? Or that evolution has been scientifically proved long ago, and only old ladies still believe in the word of God and creationism? Then you've been mislead. And you're not alone. Studies shows that more than 50% off all american teenagers believe in evolution. (That is only slightly more than the percent who believe in UFOs...) When pressed on why they believe this, the most common answer is that "everyone else does." And who can blame them? Evolution lobbyists are gaining more and more power in school boards and committees over the country, and more and more teachers now avoid the subject of creation alltogether, out of fear of reprimands from evolutionists. This means that you're not allowed to hear the truth. Does this make you feel uneasy? Then read on. Even though evolution has many loud-spoken supporters in parts of the scientific community, it's always important to remember that having plenty of resources doesn't mean someone is right. In fact, more often than not, a minority of groundbreaking scientists has seen the truth that the larger masses needs more time to comprehend. Consider Galileo, Newton and Einstein. So also with creationism. When the scientific revolution of the late 19th century begun, it went hand in hand with secularism and moral decline. This scared many christians into defining all science as dangerous and secular, and not just the pseudo-scientism of left-wingers like Charles Darwin and Karl Marx. This only left more room for the pseudo-scientists, who eagerly supported this division between science and religion. Gradually, the scientific community accepted secular theories about the origin of man and the universe, building a universe where there was no room for God. It was not until well out in this century that christians began to realise the need for a purely scientific approach to the well-debated origin of man. "If God created the laws of nature," they stated, "what do we have to fear from science?" The answer: Nothing. Having studied the subject thoroughly, bold, outspoken scientists discovered nothing more than what christians had known for centuries. God, our loving father, *did* create Adam and Eve in his image, he *did* rescue Noah from the flood, he *did* send his Son, Jesus Christ, to save our souls from sin and slavery. Now it was scientifically proven. This is neither the time nor place to go into a detailed account of the theory of evolution versus the arguments and facts of creationism. I will only give a short introduction to some of the most commonly debated issues, and try to give you an idea of why we think this is important for you. When we remove all the layers of doubletalk and deception that evolutionists has build around their pet theory, we're left with one, single assumption, that ought to be easy to prove or disprove: That left to itself, a species will automatically improve over time, thanks to something called "natural selection". Natural selection, or "survival of the fittest", means that if only the strongest and best individuals of a species survive, then the next generation will be stronger than the last. If, for example, a rabbit suddenly grows wings, it is more likely to reproduce and have winged rabbit kids than an ordinary rabbit is to have ordinary rabbit kids, because a rabbit with wings is able to just fly away from any threat. Eventually, all rabbits will have wings. And that, according to evolutionists, is how we got feet, arms, lungs, eyes, nose, ears, brain, etc. etc. Suddenly, and one at a time. This sounds good on paper, but when we take it out into reality, the theory explodes like a huge, bloated balloon. First: How does an animal suddenly grow a new and useful organ? The solution supported by most evolutionists is mutation. Once in a while, accidents happen in our DNA system, usually because we've been hit by radioactive or ionized particles. These accidents are called mutations, and make us ill, some times severely. This is a scientific fact. Evolutionists believe that for every 10000 bad mutations there is one good. For ten thousand dead or disfigured mutated rabbits, there is one with something useful called wings, and that is enough. But seriously, consider this: Mutations rarely affect more than a handful of DNA cells. Enough to destroy the perfect balance in our body. But the information needed to create an entire organ, like an eye or a wing, fills enormous 50 thousand DNA cells, some times more. What's the likelihood of 50 thousand DNA cells suddenly mutating into a perfect, working eye? Remember, almost is not good enough. And as for the "survival of the fittest"-theory, try this experiment: Place an average man and an average grizzly bear in the same cage, and see who survives. I think we can assume that a man is no match for an angry bear. Does this mean that bears are more fit to live than humans? That they are further developed than us? What about the soul? What about ethics and art? According to the Darwin theory, we should all be monstrous killing machines with laser beams poking out from our eyes and the strength of ten grizzly bears. But we're not. Our bodies are fragile, our minds are weak and sinful. How does that fit with evolution? Next time you meet a so-called evolutionist, ask him that. And I won't even mention the ethical implications of natural selection.
(Is it a coincidence that both Marx and Hitler were eager supporters of
Darwin? After all, Holocaust and Gulag could only occur in a society
which only had room for the strongest.)
In fact, as we reveal more and more weaknesses in the "theory" of evolution, the evidence of one single creator becomes more and more clear. This creator is not a large can of hydrogen, it is not a lot of weird mistakes and accidents, or a billion monkeys with type writers. The Creator is God, our Father, who created the stars in the sky, the fish in the ocean, everything - even you. A God who does nothing without a purpose. A God who didn't create you because he was bored, but because he loves you. That's right. He loves *you*. Have you been drifting away from God lately? Remember: God doesn't care if you're not a darwinian Ubermensch. He created you just as you are. All your strengths and shortcomings has a purpose in Gods giant jigsaw puzzle. And when man revolted against God and turned to evil, he didn't turn away and leave us alone. He sacrificed his own son, Jesus Christ, so that we could join him in the golden streets of the new Jerusalem, in a world of perfect harmony, with no hatred, no illness, no lust, no sin, only eternal happiness. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16) Jesus loves you. In fact, he's calling for you right now. Can you hear him? Then open your heart to him. It's never too late to accept Jesus as your saviour.
